If you are not using a 64-bit Operating System, your browser is not 64-bit. You can check if your Operating System is 64-bit by right-clicking "Computer" (or "My Computer") and choosing "properties". If under "basic information" or under the "General" tab it says 64-bit, you are using a 64-bit Operating System. Otherwise, you are not.

If you are using a 64-bit Operating System, you may be running a 32-bit browser or a 64-bit browser.

To check this:

1. Open Task Manager by right-clicking the task bar and choosing "Task Manager".

2. Click "Processes"

3. Find the browser process and see if there's a "*32" next to it. If there is, it is the 32-bit version of the browser. Otherwise it is the 64-bit version.

In this picture we can see both Internet Explorer 64-bit and under it the 32-bit processes:

4. Browser processes include:

  • iexplore.exe (Internet Explorer)
  • firefox.exe (Mozilla Firefox)
  • chrome.exe (Google Chrome)

5. To find the 32-bit version of your browser, look for its folder under C:\program files(86x)

(For example, "c:\program files (86x)\Internet Explorer" will contain the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer)
